In 2020, hundreds of thousands of people had their accounts blocked in the Caixa Tem application and were unable to receive the emergency aid from the bank.
The reason? Suspected frauds that occurred in the application. The Ministry of Citizenship even sent more than 1.3 million CPFs (Brazilian Social Security Number) to Caixa for blocking and verification, as part of efforts to combat scams related to emergency aid.
At the time, digital expert and founding partner of STWBrasil, Marcelo Nagy, gave an interview to Jornal da Band explaining how and why these frauds occurred.
