How to avoid falling for the fake ticket scam | Marcelo Nagy

Digital expert Marcelo Nagy warns about the fake ticket scam, which is becoming increasingly common in Brazil. Criminals send notifications via email, WhatsApp or even the post office, simulating official notices from traffic authorities. The tickets appear legitimate and come with short deadlines or fake discounts to pressure payment.

Marcelo explains that the first step is to be suspicious of any message that sounds urgent. “Official agencies do not send tickets via WhatsApp or ask for personal information via message,” he says. He recommends always checking the Detran website directly to check if there is a real ticket.
