In this report, digital expert Leandro Morales warned about a new sophisticated scam that uses selfies to circumvent facial biometrics and access victims’ bank accounts.
In the article, Morales explained how criminals contact victims asking for a photo of their face with a document, under the pretext of validating a benefit or prize. With this information, scammers are able to invade banking applications and carry out improper transactions.
The expert reinforced the importance of being suspicious of requests of this type and highlighted that banks never ask for selfies or personal data outside of their official channels.
