Marcelo Nagy discusses trave package scams and fake courses on the program Encontro com Patricia Poeta

Marcelo Nagy, a partner at STWBrasil and a cybersecurity specialist, appeared on Globo’s *Encontro com Patrícia Poeta* to warn about the rise of scams involving fake travel packages and courses circulating online.

The criminals behind these schemes rarely act haphazardly. They map out information exposed on social media to craft personalized, convincing pitches, posing as companies, sales platforms, or people the victim knows. What makes these scams dangerous is not the technology itself, but the social engineering behind them—the pressure, the sense of urgency, and the well-constructed narrative that compel someone to act before thinking.

To protect himself, Marcelo highlighted four points on the program: be wary of any approach that creates a sense of urgency; never share passwords or financial details via channels you did not initiate; always verify through official channels before clicking on received links; and enable two-step verification on all messaging apps and social media accounts.
